Home Based Business Success
Mood:  happy
Topic: Home Based Business

Well, my plan went on well! Success at last. I followed the advice of my friend, Ron Passfield, an authority on Squidoo Marketing Strategies. His Google Squidoo Dance concept is simply brilliant. It takes some time to set up all the components for this dance but the result nevertheless is extra-ordinary.

Internet gurus may not accept GSD's technicalities. I tried to decipher the meaning and intent but gave up! What Ron says must be right. Somewhere in my anxiety to get more traffic to my lens on Home Based Business, I deleted my blog module and opted for Google blogs. And I had it! No traffic for some days. In introspection, I realised I had dropped the trunk itself - who can dance without a trunk?!

After restoring the blog entries and updating the blog, again the dance began in no time. While the other lensmasters complain they don't get traffic from Google, I am not amused.

Ok, enough of this now.

I wish to tell you I came across a free website hosting site which also allows you to display Google Adsense on your pages. You can find it on my Simplest Money Making Ever lens.

Free Websites For Home Based Business
Mood:  happy
Topic: Home Based Business

Well, my plan seems to have worked! My Squidoo Lens started getting traffic from Google, Yahoo, AOL and some groups. Like I say always search and research on your own. Something that worked for others may or may not work for you.....

Without beating about the bush, let me come to the point. There are a number of free hosting sites for webpages and blogs. Never think of making money from day one.

My free website strategy would be:

1. Select one or more free hosting sites like Google Pages, GeoCities, Tripod, Google Base, Free Webs, Weebly etc.

2. Select one or more free blogging sites like Blogger, Wordpress, Yahoo 360, Tripod, Rediffiland etc.

3. Register at (1) and (2) above. Try to include your keyword as your site and blog names.

4. Select a suitable title or heading for your website and blog.

5. If you are not technically savvy, you can opt for Free Webs for your website and Blogger for your blog.

6. Choose your topic of interest or study or skill or hobby or experience.

7. Make a search with your topic (one or two main words) on Google, Yahoo and MSN search engines. Study the first 10 sites listed by them. Make sure you have a lot more to say i.e., your content should be different. Do not copy others' content. You will be liable for copyright violations if you copy. Change your topic if need be. Web surfers are keen to read new material or info.

8. Next go to Word Tracker. Try their free version - it gives daily traffic count for about 100 (maximum) keywords and phrases. Find out what is the traffic like for your keyword. Copy these words to your Excel file for record and future reference. There are other free tools too listed at my Squidoo Lens on Free Home Based Business.

9. Now comes the hardest part - Writing Content which I shall discuss later.

10. For inspiration and ideas for organising your thoughts, head over to article directories like Ezine Articles, Go Articles etc. and read the articles written by veterans. Make notes but do not copy! If you choose to quote, give proper accreditations - still better write to them in the comments box.

I will give other guidelines in my future entries or read my tips on internet business.

Does A Tripod Blog Get Indexed Quickly?
Mood:  down
Topic: Search Engine Indexing

Generally, its easy to get indexed by search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN if you have a website or a blog on Tripod. But this time around I am yet to see this blog on any major search engine!

May be, I am too casual at present. Is it because I didn't update quickly enough or because Tripod lost its sheen to WP or Blogger? Well, I can't say and don't know the experience of others. But I wonder when a simple website that too a free one made by me got listed on the top page in Yahoo Search in a short time, why shouldn't this happen with a blog.

Ok, now I wish to try a link from Google Base - I wish to use it really as a base! If Google can't value its own pages, what the heck. Then I wish to do another thing. Now, Google likes Rediff.Com. So I make a blog there. I don't know why it isn't blog.rediff.com or something similar - they call it rediffiland.com, God knows why...

Well, I have a series about my experiences with earning money from home based business. Now, I am one of those guys who believe in spending less to nothing on the internet. There are deadly sharks there ( some of them ) who will devour you if you fall prey to their promises about millions to be simply raked in all at $ 47! Like this Jack or some nut sent a mail to me today asking me to cough up $ 7 for some secrets to be exclusively made available to a few and those lucky ones include me. Pay? My foot!

Free Websites And Other Free Resources
Mood:  incredulous
Topic: Home Based Business

Home Based Business, Work From Home or Online Business all need a website or a blog where you can announce your own products or others' products - even services.

Why Do You Need A Website?

  • First of all, everybody needs an extra income to meet the rising costs of living these days.
  • Secondly, getting a job can be quite a task with so much competition.
  • Or one can start internet online business both for creativity and money (some at least!).

Remember its a buyer's market - always! And you need to struggle - its not a cakewalk.

You Need An Address On The Net

A website is just like an address like your residential address. On the internet too, you need to have one. In computer parlance, it is called 'URL' which is an abbreviation for "Uniform Resource Locator" or even "Uniform Resource Identifier" (URI).

According to Wikipedia, "in addition to identifying a resource, URL or URI provides a means of locating the resource by describing its primary access mechanism."

Suffice it to say, if you don't want to be just a wandering visitor on the net or you want to sell something on the net or want to announce or say to the world at large, the web or the net is the right place. You can make some money too as long as there are spenders!

Being on the net can benefit in many ways:

  • Your creative energies can channelised effectively
  • You don't waste time in front of the idiot box ( of course, at times it becomes wiser)
  • You can make a little money or if you are lucky more money!

More important - You are your own boss ( that matters a lot!).

My inference is that if you have ideas ( even if they are not 'great'), you are missing a great lot if you are not on the bandwagon.

A lot of people come here to make easy and fast money! For them it doesn't matter whether it is by hook or by crook.

People want to give away free their great books in PDF format. When you download the stuff, you have to pay a huge amount without any guarantee about the usefulness.

Bill Gates, leave alone telling, doesn't sell his secrets.

Never get duped by unknown people in any matter. More so on the internet unless you can verify or have a good reference.

Use your own study, analysis and research. Your honest and sincere efforts in the right direction only will lead you to success.

I will share my experiences with you.

In my next post I will discuss about what you need for home based business or just for having a website.  I will also discuss whether there is any need to bother about webhosting and domain registration!
